An Argument between a Theist and an Atheist

NON-BELIEVER

  

       Let’s take this one step at a time.

You are little...you are told there is a God.. ok?

A Christian is told there are 3. A Hindu is told there are thousands. We are told that nothing can be made itself and there has to be a creator and that is god/gods. So we accept these things because our parents told them to us. And parents cannot be wrong can they??

     So we go on believing what we were taught in our childhood without once entertaining the thought that our parents can be wrong……

     We are told that god made the earth, the heavens  and everything.. proof? proof is that nothing as complicated and sophisticated as this universe or human body can be made out of itself... THERE HAS TO BE SOME ONE WHO CREATED THIS... So when we ask but who created god?  It is told that god was there always.. He need not be created. He escapes that rule. He is just there... He is more intelligent than a human and more complex than the universe but we believe that he was not created….. He was just there.

   Just see how contradictory it is to each other.. Universe which is far less complex than god CAN NOT CREATE ITSELF... but  GOD  who is INFINITELY MORE COMPLEX  did not need a creator.. He just came to be. The truth really is that we cannot really say what created what. Our knowledge is so limited that we cannot see what is behind our back let alone find out that who created this universe...

Then we are told about the prophets and men of God and miracle workers...They claim to speak with God and then show us his power... Their prophecies come true. Their enemies are defeated. Their miracles are extravagant. They are thoroughly convincing...And surprise  surprise  every religion has got these people... EVERY SINGLE  ONE Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Baha'i, Buddhism, Wiccan.. EACH AND EVERY ONE.. Their prophecies come true with an eerie accuracy.. Whether its Jesus Christ  or the witch doctors in Africa who speak  with spirits or a Christian priest who saw Jesus in his dream or a child visited by the Virgin Mary or whether it’s.

Every Religion has got a fair share of these miracles and holy people….. Those who could make it rain just by praying right at the spot...

All of them cannot be right….. Surely only the followers of the true God would have their prayers answered?? There would be a CLEAR difference between believers and non-believers.

BUT SADLY NO... There is no difference. No matter what your religion is, your prayers will be answered at the same rate... Hindu Gods listen as often to prayers as Jesus Christ does or Yahweh or Allah or Flying Spaghetti Monster.  Sometimes they your prayer is answered and then it is flaunted as a great sign of God….. but when it is not...well no it does not mean that god is not listening…..it does not mean that there is no god...A the old saying goes:

“If God Answers Your Prayer, He is increasing your FAITH. If He Delays, He is increasing  your PATIENCE. If He Doesn’t Answer, He has Something BETTER in store for you.”

You see there is simply no way to rule out God…..NONE…... No matter what happens you can't arrive to the conclusion that there may be no God.

These are the things that each and every child is told...How can he think independently....we are always told to QUESTION THE MIRACLES OF OTHER RELIGIONS  but never of our own….. Even when we hadn’t seen any of them ourselves.  It’s our bias which prevents us from believing that things which increase our faith in our religion may be present in other religions as well….. No we can't accept that…... That would destroy our whole belief system…. IT’S A HERECY.

In all this doubt and conflicting evidence how can a person be sure that he knows 100 percent that this particular religion is right and all other are wrong???

BELIEVER

The first thing is that a person cannot be younger or little by his age but knowledge.  I have realized that you are so little than me in respect of your childish knowledge and thinking that you have got nothing in your life, you learned nothing but only wrong and false beliefs!

         You said how and why your parents can be wrong (this is ridiculous!).  Do your parents have all and 100% exact knowledge?  Can they??  Are they not human?  It means if your parents say that fire is so cool that you can take it in your hand,  it will not burn you, or fall into it and it will not burn your body and you will not die! ( Are they right???)  You can say yes they are my parents so they have correct knowledge (this is non-sense on account of both you and your parents!)

                 You said there is God but where is he? WHO CREATED GOD.  My brother, He is God. He is not like us! He doesn’t have desires like us. He created us and not the other way around. If God is like human or any other creature then he is not God ! if he has same desires like us then what is difference between us and Him? He is beyond our imagination, beyond our little thinking and knowledge! GOD SAYS :

     “We have created everything, nobody created me ! I don’t have parents, I don’t have wife and children, (these are you qualities or desires! not Mine). (and as His creature we have to obey Him.) Don't think in myself who and how I am! Otherwise you will lose your faith and go astray from the righteous path!”

                       You said all religions are same, that there were noble persons who performed miracles ( yes there were).  God sent many noble people for the guidance of non-believers. God made many religions like Jews, Christianity, etc.  at different times and after that he combined all previous religions and their best qualities and knowledge in His last Book Quran and then said that this is last and only religion for all human beings on this earth to accept and follow.

            May be you are thinking there is even No God then who has said all this???  Who wrote these books and who sent all these noble people and these religions???

          1--My friend there are lots of things in this world which we cannot see at all! Even using any kind of device or equipment we are not able to see those and you also know this! Even you DO NOT know about your own self your own body or your own qualities! You have Love within you, don't you? (You have said you have Love inside you) could you tell me how this Love looks like? Where it is in your body? What is shape and color or your love? What is weight of your love? How much space your Love occupies?? If you want to put your Love in a vessel then how much and how will you put your Love in it?? All your Love belongs to your own self and it’s your own property and you are owner of it! But sorry to say that you don’t have even little knowledge to explain your own quality! You don’t even have any power to see it! to touch it ! What kind of owner you are?????????  You cannot tell about yourself and yet you try to know and stress to believe that Power which is much more beyond our imagination and knowledge which is known as GOD!!!!!!!!! How you can say anything about HIM? Even when you don’t know about your own self ?????????  This is ridiculous , funny and only NON-SENSE !!!!

         Show me LOVE which is your own property and if you are able to see it with your eyes, then i can say that yes you should have seen GOD with your eyes! Or YOU MUST SEE HIM! Or you have ability to see him and even show Him to others (but this is not possible. God says: “ It’s up to me to whom i can show myself. I only reveal myself to believers not non-believers).  Non-believers only wander in their ignorance all their lives! And this is not His duty to show Himself to everyone to believe.

                            This is like a person who says yes I have much Love inside me but i don't believe it because i want to see it with my eyes! (This is again non-sense and childish desire).

                    You say God said he made everything, where is the proof??? (I am smiling on your little knowledge! ).My friend, first think of your own self. Who you are and what you are?? How you were born? You don't know about your own self and YOU TRY TO CHALLENGE HIM WHO HAS CREATED YOU FROM A CLOT OF BLOOD?? This is similar to a scientist who makes a Robot and every part of it and gives him sense and mind. After some time that robot says NO I am superior to you, i have that knowledge which you (my creator) don’t have. (Think!!! what a non-sense is this challenge, its creator will destroy it or simply punish it!!).

                                                     You said God sent many pious & noble persons (or prophets). WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? Shouldn’t he send such people or first take your permission whether he should send or not! (Allah doesn’t need any permission, order or help of any creature at all).The same way i can say why you are here?  Why you came on earth?  What’s your problem?? Why were you born and what is your concern with other people???(This will be my non-sense).

                                      You said why or how those people had spiritual powers that others don’t have? This again is big non-sense. For example, I ask a person, who has completed his Ph.D,  why you are given your Ph.D???I do not have that qualification or degree??? What knowledge you have, i don’t have it. I am in 3 class. I won’t believe your degree unless they give me Degree of Ph.D(NON- SENSE)

                                   You say God answers or gives to certain people. If He is doing so, then what is your problem? Should He give same things to all?? Should He make all people with same color, with same height? With equal status? Then what would be the difference between poor and rich? healthy and diseased? master and slave? non-believer and Believer? noble and sinner? ( My friend i have come to this point that you don't have sense which a small 5 year old child may have).

                                      All this in-equality is for this reason to test everybody, as he is testing me and you right now! If you and are me of same thinking or knowledge then what is difference between you and me?? We would not have challenged each other like this. It’s all testing of our Lord and Creator who is obedient to Him and who is not?? This is only in favor of us, if we don't believe His powers and desires then He doesn't need to care for us! He is above and beyond everything, every misconception and every dis-belief and nobody can harm Him in anyway.

                                  And don't forget He only gives correct knowledge to those who believe Him. Mother gives to all children but gives special things to that child who is deserving (Can you say i am wrong???????).

And there is only one God(Allah), no one else! If someone believes in some god other than Him then he is wrong and is only worshiping devils or monsters. These devils and monsters are also made by Allah. They are different creatures so they have some high powers than humans. That’s why some people think they are above God or challenge Him(this is only misconception).There is only ONE GOD (ALLAH). Lord and God of all gods! This is my belief because i believe Him and for this belief He has given me things which many people don’t have. He has accepted my ordinary and special prayers every time i asked Him, and it happened hundreds of times not few times. WHY SHOULD I NOT BELIEVE IN HIM???  I need Him, I don’t need help of any human (but only in worldly matters which God has allowed us to seek other fellow beings’ help), I don't need help of devils. They are nothing, they only mislead you! If you say some gods accept your prayers or give you something then again its God (Allah) who actually gives you. It’s His permission behind that giving or blessing and if i am not given anything then certainly there is something better for me in it.

                     As a child you may desire to eat burning coal. it looks very beautiful in your eyes but your mother or father only knows it’s harmful for you and they keep you away from it. Sometimes you are ill and want to eat sweets but they give you bitter medicine so that you may get well but you think why they are giving you such bitter things? Only they know what is good for you. Same is with you and God, he is your creator and knows what is best for you and what you deserve!

                    Think with your mind not with your emotions or desires! You have written u hate Ramadan? So what do you know about Ramadan? Can you explain me????? Also tell me, are you Christian or Hindu??? because with your beliefs and wrong faiths you cannot say you are a Muslim, you are only a mislead and lost person wandering in darkness and think that this is the reality like a fish which is in depth of sea water where there is only darkness and no sunshine.  She only can say that this is all ! There is darkness everywhere, in all world, she cannot even imagine of light or sun shine out there. she even cannot imagine how big this world is and what colors and lights God has made for His creatures but she doesn’t believe or think and doesn’t try to come up to the surface of sea and at last dies in its DARKNESS !!!!!

          May Allah give you proper Knowledge and help you (Amen).

Sex Education

 The topic has always been the center of my attention since my teenage years. Later teen years not the early ones because I thought sex was some kind of taboo back then. Then I grew up and realized the image I was portrayed was not exactly true.

               What our parents do in this society is to never talk about sexual affairs and matters with their kids even when they have achieved puberty or are pretty close to it. They never tell u anything and I mean nothing at all. It’s one of those topics which are supposed to be not discussed in the slightest possible way in front of your parents. And our schools have not realized the importance of proper sex education as yet, so one is totally blank when it comes to sex education, in teenage years. 

              The only source of getting into that kind of talk is with your friends and class fellows who do not know much either. So you come across a lot of rumors or should I say, “Sex Myths”. This does not help anyone and leads to a variety of mishaps that could have easily been avoided.

         Several reasons explaining their behavior in my opinion,

1-    They are over cautious and want to avoid mentioning anything that leads to sex.

2-    They think that not talking about sex with kids will not let them come across sex before a certain age.

3-    They are being unrealistic.

4-    They feel awkward and do not want to bring the subject up with the kids.

         But they have to understand one fundamental concept; this is not an ideal world. We live in a real world. So which approach is better; keeping your kids ignorant of something that they will eventually come to know of or equipping them with proper sex education? Is it sensible to not make them aware of all possible threats and dangers out there? Not telling them about sexual predators, not telling them about molesters. It would be a horrible decision. I had to mention this point because there is a lot of child molestation going on silently in this society and people do not give proper attention to it. It is one of those issues that need to be addressed immediately and dealt with an Iron Hand.

 

Abstinence Only Programs: 

  There are two approaches followed by western countries towards sex education; one deals with proper sex education along with information about methods of contraception and the other one talks only about the physiology of sex but strongly promotes abstinence till marriage without telling proper contraceptive methods.

So in your opinion whatever may be the best choice but research shows that abstinence only programs do not have any impact on the sexual behaviors of people who have pledged to do so. To support my argument;

“In April 2007 the results were published of a Congress mandated evaluation of federally funded abstinence based programs in American schools. The investigation, which looked at four programs offering a range of settings and strategies, found that rates of abstinence and unprotected sex in students who took part in the programs were virtually identical to rates among students who had been randomly assigned to not take part. The ages at first sexual intercourse were also nearly identical, as were the numbers of sexual partners. It appears that the programs had no impact on how the students behaved.”

In view of these researches it has now been suggested that comprehensive based programs to be followed by American schools rather than abstinence based programs. 

Is It Pretentious or Necessary?

  I do not think sex education is a topic that is over emphasized. And here are a few points that support my case,

1-    It provides better sexual awareness among kids who have just reached puberty and are confused about quite a few things happening to them, both physical and emotional ones.

2-    It helps prevent the spread of STDs.

3-    It helps in a way to lower the number of teenage and unwanted pregnancies.

 It is helping a lot in preventing the spread of AIDS among teenagers and individuals by letting them know of risk factors and precautions that could be taken. STDs are big risk factors in developing countries like Pakistan where there is also a stigma associated with people who contract them, crippling their social lives. Research has proved that sex education reduces the incidence of spread of STDs especially AIDS among teenagers and adolescents.

Thou Art a Writer!

            A dilemma faced by writes.

Everyone who reads literature and admires it aspires to become a writes one day, If not a professional one then a part timer who writes every now and then.  Whatever may be the case, one thing is for sure, we all want expression of our set of beliefs and ideals so that we get the feeling of joy and fulfillment that we are not alone and there are other crazies that support our arguments.

                                   Not everyone is as skilled as some to beautify and embellish their writings with a myriad of really complex and flowery phrases. Rather it has become a certain sort of ritual these days to write really grandiloquent and ornate sentences to show off one’s grasp on the language.  I don’t condemn the act but seriously what is more important, showing off your literary skills or conveying your message in a piece of writing that reflects you thoughts and feelings? Is it too bad to write in a simpler language that could be easily understood by all?  A question I want you to answer yourself.

         Mirza Ghalib was a great poet that belonged to the subcontinent region and so was Allama Iqbal. What is the difference between the two guys? This whole article is best exemplified by the comparison of the two poets. If you read Ghalib’s  “ghazals”  that he wrote in Urdu, one thing is common to all of them; use of simple vocabulary. But no one can deny the depth of the meaning those simple words carried. That is what makes you a great writer or poet. On the other hand, Iqbal embellished his poetry with flowery and ornate phrases. But the meanings and messages are pretty simple once you penetrate the thick hide of vocabulary in his poems. 

             So it’s up to you, be a writer that uses words that needs looking up in the dictionary or be a writer that writers in simple language but is very effective in his style. I would prefer to be the latter one because in my opinion that is a much better approach

Have not read the guy once :p . It is quite unbelievable that my writing style would match a science fiction writer, although  i mostly read fiction but not science fiction. I would have loved to get any one like Thomas Hardy, Scott Fitzgerald, Victor Hugo, Joseph Conrad or Khalid Hosseini. This shows that you may not necessarily be good at what you think u are good at. SO I AM A SCIENCE FICTION WRITER XD

IGNORING THE BELOVED AND REMORSE

Ignoring people around you and then just missing someone who you did not care for when he or she was around you, people do that all the time. I don’t know why they whine that they did not do justice to someone when they were around him or her. What good is to babble about something that u did not take care of when u had the chance to do it right? I can totally bet that even if they got another chance they would do the same thing to that person. It’s just that they try to rationalize their acts by feeling guilty and cursing themselves.

                      Well, whatever may be the case, I just know one thing; either care for someone who is around you or not and if u did not take care of him/ her, do not go whining about that in front of everybody because you did not care when that person was around you. Here I would like to quote a certain incident. It is about my neighbors. I used to go to their house a lot. Last year their mom got sick.  She had a heart attack, they took her to the nearby hospital and luckily she survived that attack.

                                                 Coronary Artery Disease (a condition in which your arteries that supply blood to heart are occluded to due to plaque formation) was diagnosed. Doctors assessed the whole situation and for the purpose of further investigating the matter they carried out coronary angiography (a minor procedure carried out to pin point the location of clots). They suggested a bypass and put her on medications for the time being…..

                 The family belonged to the middle class like our family. The expenses of the operation would have been a burden on them, of course, but I think u can do that much for your dying mother, cant u?  Doctor gave them two options, either to go for surgery or to choose drug therapy.  They just kept delaying the surgery. And when finally it came to do or die situation, they made lame excuses like, “She is too weak to survive it, let’s not make her life more miserable.” They did not take much care of her in her life. They were careless in buying her medication and sometimes she had no drugs to take for days. They knew she was dying but none made any desperate attempt to save her. Everyone was too busy thinking about his or her family. In the end when she died the same people were saying, “Oh my God! What happened! We will never be able to overcome such a big loss. Why she had to leave us alone in this world?” What is this? At times I’m totally unable to understand behavior of people. Either they were acting or they were really sorry, I can’t tell. Anyways they were terrible. They let their mother die through their selfishness and carelessness.

                  Is this the worth and true nature of human relations? Many people might argue that this example was one extreme and there is the other side to every picture. But in any case I have come to make a conclusion through my experiences and learning that humans are a strange being. They say one thing and do another thing. They may say that relations matter most and that they are unconditional but that is not totally true. It is the partial truth that we teach and preach our youngsters in an attempt to compensate for the guilt we feel towards the reality of our nature. Because we all know that relations are based on compromises, common goals and self-interests, hidden or obvious. And I think this the main reason that we ignore and do not care for the people we claim to love or care for.
